A gear is used to transmit circular movement through the contact of gear wheels. One of the most important applications of gears is the transmission of the movement along the axis of a power source, such as an internal combustion engine or an electric motor, until another axis located at some distance and that has to work. The gears are composed of two gears, of which the largest is called Crown ' and the smaller 'gear'.
Speeds entry (shaft) and out put (driven shaft) are inversely related to the number of teeth of wheels that are connected to (same as the transmission by cadena-pinon) to be satisfied that:
N1·Z1 = N2·Z2
that the speed of the driven shaft will be: N2 = N1·(Z1/Z2) where:
N1 speed of shaft rotation conductor
N2 rotational speed of the driven shaft
Z1 number of teeth of the number of teeth
Z2-number of teeth of the pinion
